The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ondo State Command in conjunction with the Federal Fire Service in Ondo State had a training session which centered on: ” Upscaling the skills of NSCDC Personnel in Fire Prevention and Management ” on thursday 27th October, 2021 at the NSCDC Command Headquarters Permanent Site, Oda Road Akure.
Declaring the program open the Ondo State Commandant, Dr Hammed Abodunrin reiterated on the mandate of the Corps regarding Disaster management and rescuing of victims during emergencies. He noted that the establishment of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is premised on Disaster management dated back to the period of the Civil war.
The Ondo State Commandant charged the personnel to take advantage of the training session by understanding the basic rules of preventing fire disasters especially as the harmattan season approaches; this in turn would make the personnel become agents of change by enlightening the public on how to imbibe safety precautions to avert Fire Disasters in their environment.
The Resource Person from the Federal Fire Service Ondo State Command ASF Titus Ogunmodede during his lecture explicitly elucidated on the classifications of fire, tools for fighting fire, prevention and management of fire disasters and fire fighting skills.
While commending the efforts of the management of the Federal Fire Service in Fire fighting, Commandant Abodunrin warned the public against deliberate bush burning, indiscriminate tampering with electrical installations, illegal connections and lack of fire extinguishers in cars and public places. He further affirmed his readiness to partner with the Federal Fire Service by carrying out intensive enlightenment campaign for the masses across the State before, during and after the Yelutide.
