The Ondo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Hammed Abodunrin has reiterated his commitment to wagging war against Vandalism, Illegally dealings in Petroleum products and other Criminal activities in the State.
He made this statement during his familiarization tour to the Department of Petroleum Resources in Ondo State on Wednesday 30th June, 2021.
The Ondo NSCDC Helmsman said the Command under his watch has effectively deployed her personnel for Safeguarding all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Protection of lives and properties, Anti-vandalism amongst others.
He said the Command is also commited to the enforcement of law and order so as to guide against Illegal dealings in Petroleum products.
In furtherance to this, Commandant Hammed enjoined the management of the Department of Petroleum Resources to collaborate strongly with the Command in enhancing continuous public awareness campaign against unauthorized dealings in Petroleum products affirming that when the civil populace are aware of the negative consequences of Vandalism, Sales of Adulterated Automotive Gas (AGO) and the consequential effects on the economy of the Nation; the tendency to commit such crimes will definitely be ameliorated.
The Ondo/Ekiti Controller of the Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr Oluwole Awoderu lauded the ONDO NSCDC for her pragmatism, doggedness and professionalism in the arrest and prosecution of Suspects dealing illegally in Petroleum products in the State. He pledged to support the Command by enhancing a speedy analysis of samples reports to fast track the investigation and prosecution process.
The DPR Boss said the collaboration between the two Agencies will also help in curbing the menace of Liquified Gas Retailers who have now turned themselves to Gas Refillers in some parts of the State. In his words, ” We issue license to some of them to sell Gas in Cylinders but they go ahead to refill for people and this could lead to combustion and destruction of lives and properties if carelessly managed”
Mr Awoderu however affirmed that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources is solely saddled with the responsibility of managing both the upstream and downstream oil sectors hence the Department is ready to strengthen her relationship with the Command for a more efficient and effective Service delivery.
