Ondo NSCDC arrest four suspects with trucks of illegally refined AGO

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested Four [4] suspects with two [2] Trucks conveying Fifty Eight Thousand Seven Hundred litres [58,700] of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil [AGO].

This was made known in a statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC. Olufemi Omole on Thursday 17th June, 2021.

While parading the suspects the Command helmsman, Commandant Hammed Abodunrin said the arrests were made possible through credible information and sustained intelligence hence; the suspects were nabbed by the Anti-Vandal Unit of the Command.

The first set of suspects, Muyideen Olamide [M] aged 47years and Mouruf Adesokan were both arrested along Akure-Benin expressway around 1600hrs on Tuesday 15th June, 2021 with a long Truck with Registration Number: Lagos KEY 269 YE conveying about 45,000 litres of locally refined automotive gas oil. [AGO]

Consequently, another set of suspects were arrested on Wednesday 16th June, 2021 around 4pm; the two suspects Nathaniel Godwin [M] aged 38years and Prince Okon [M] aged 30 years were apprehended at Shasha Area along Akure-Benin expressway with a Truck- Registration Number: Lagos XT 353 AKD transporting about 13,700 litres of locally refined AGO. As at the time the arrests were made the suspects could not present the necessary licenses authorizing them to deal in petroleum products.

Commandant Hammed said thorough investigation is ongoing, the suspects would be charged to Court appropriately if found culpable. He affirmed that the Command will continue to synergize with other Sister Agencies to curb criminal activities in the State.

He however issued a stern warning to perpetrators of vandalism, operators of illegal refineries, and other criminals to desist from such practices or relocate out of the State.
