Support one another to overcome challenges, Mrs Akeredolu urges Women

The wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu has charged Women to always support their fellow women, saying that by so doing, they can jointly changed the narrative of violence Against women in the Society.

She stated this during the “FLOWER the Musical” 2021, a Women Empowerment  Musical Theatre, produced by  SEEING THROUGH THE ARTS AND 2WICE AS NICE STUDIOS, held at Glover hall, Marina Lagos.

Commenting on the messages passed by the theatre bothering on issues that have negatively affected women and put Womanhood down and as they were able to pick up at the end, Mrs Akeredolu charged women not to give up in whatever situation they found themselves.

Mrs Akeredolu who was invited to the programme due to her track record and passion for Nation Building and Social Responsibility, especially on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence; congratulated the organiser for staging such an instructive theatre that captured nearly all the problems afflicting women.

She emphasised the need for women to support fellow women in order to get things done, noting that some are in a difficult situation that needs encouragement and support before they could be able to move on.

Topics such as Gender Based Violence,
Child Molestation, Rape, Female Genital
Mutilation, and Gender Inequality were
brought to the fore in FLOWER THE MUSICAL and conveyed in ballads,
monologues and dance.

The Ondo First Lady, who was a Special Guest of honour, in company of the wife of the deputy governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, noted that the production was full of lessons and advised the producer to extend it beyond the shore of Lagos State, while expressing her readiness to share the beautiful experience with women in Ondo State.

The Executive Producer of the event, Mrs Obukome Ibru explained that FLOWER THE MUSICAL depicts the challenges and struggles of women and promotes the emancipation of the discriminated women.

She noted that the production which was moved from stage to screen due to covid-19 pandemic, was specifically designed to connect with different age groups and social classes.


The FLOWER Musical theatre 2021, was built around six categories of women; a faithful wife, an accused murderer, a corporate amazon, a religious hopeful waiting for divine intervention for fruit of the womb, a Socialite, and Teenage Daughter who was forced to undergo Genital Mutilation and raped.

Having ‘Dramatizing Gender Discrimination’ as its moto, FLOWER production uses theatre as a
powerful tool to raise awareness of gender discrimination in rural and urban communities.

It featured a team of talented and experienced artistes the likes of Ufuoma Mcdermott, WAJE the musician, Elvina Ibru, Teni, Tosin Adeyemi, Nini Mbonnu, and a host of others.
