Maximize SAED Skills you acquired, Mrs Akeredolu charges Corps members

The wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu has charged Corps members to maximize the skills they acquired at the orientation camp to tackle the unemployment rate in Nigeria.

Speaking at the NYSC’s orientation camp in Ikare-Akoko area of Ondo State today during the closing ceremony of the 2021 batch ‘A’ Stream 11 Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Programme, SAED, Mrs Akeredolu encouraged them to nourish and explore the skills, noting that it could be the turning point in their life.

“However, I cannot deny that tingling sense of fear that you will soon have to contend with the alarming unemployment rate in the country, and that is why you must take these skills you have learnt in the course of this programme very seriously”.

According to her, the rate of unemployment in Nigeria which was put at 13.40% by the world population review of 2021 and 17.40% by the Nigerian Methodology, call for a concerted effort of well-meaning individuals, noting that Government alone couldn’t arrest the situation.

She informed the Corps members that as part of her contributions to nation building by producing job creators rather than job seekers, she initiated the BEMORE EMPOWERED INITIATIVE where girls are being trained on life-enhancing skills as well as knowledge to reposition them for the challenges ahead.

The Ondo First Lady affirmed the determination and commitment of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to make the state number one destination of investment by providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“I can assure you that the government of Ondo State ably led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, is leaving no stones unturned in its bid to create the perfect atmosphere for small and medium scale enterprises to flourish in the state. I look forward to seeing some of you here today settling and establishing fruitful and legal businesses here in Ondo State”, she said.

Mrs Akeredolu implored them as they are going into the world market not to be indulged in rat race to make money but rather make integrity, honesty, and hardwork their watchwords; saying “they pay in the long run”.

“True wealth is one that comes with peace of mind. Any wealth that is acquired through fraudulent and exploitative means is no wealth at all and will never stand the test of time. Let me state emphatically that honesty and hardwork pays. You can be legitimately wealthy”, the First Lady advised the Corps members.

Having inspected all the skills the Corps members showcased, along with the wife of the deputy governor, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, the First Lady commended the Coordinator of the Camp and her team for a job well-done, while expressing her readiness for partnership to ensure that the vision of the SAED scheme is achieved.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Coordinator of the NYSC camp, Mrs Victoria Nnenna Ani, described the visit of the First Lady as first of its kind in the history of the camp, saying it was an indication of her love for the NYSC and the youths in general.
