Insecurity, fruit of poor parenting- FOMWAN

The Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), has attributed insecurity witnessed in the country to poor parenting which requires urgent attention to safe the nation from total collapse.

The Ondo state President of the association, Alhaja Aminat Akinpelumi Abibunllah said parents should give their children the necessary upbringing which would ensure a better society.

Abibunllah who spoke at the association’s Children’s Day celebration in Akure, charged women to give their children proper upbringing and in a religiously way which would enable them to have the fear of God and make the country a better place for all.

She urged government not to neglect the celebration of the children’s day, so that they will know the challenges before them to make a better society.

The Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Akorede, urged parents to develop good characters and cater for their children so that they would grow to transform the state and country at large.

While saying that parent has a lot to do, Akorede condemned the non-challant attitudes of some parents towards monitoring their children and their incomes.

The Guest Lecturer at the occasion, Dr. Sidiqat Adamson, while describing children as building blocks, observed the need to maintain and contain them as well as ensuring that they do adhere to the protocols of COVID-19 to reduce it’s spread.

According to her, COVID-19 has affected all facet of life where children are the most disadvantaged ones.

The event also featured spiritual diet, Quran recitations, special prayers, syndicate group discussion and paper presentations among others.
