No Amotekun officer was killed in Ondo-Commandant

Four have been arrested by Amotekun Corps in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, and destruction of farmlands at Jugbere settlement/Sanusi village in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

This is just as the Corps declared that no officer of the security outfit is missing or killing during the operation in Owo.

Briefing newsmen in Akure, the state Commandant Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects were arrested within one hour of the operation.

Some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers, illegal miners, and herdsmen, did not only kill a farmer and a member of vigilante group in the area, but also burnt vehicles and motorcycles of Amotekun corps as well as destroying farmlands.

Chief Adeleye, who said the operation was carried out with the collaboration of the Nigerian Army, Police force and the DSS, explained that there was no crossfire but the security operatives only responded to a distress call from the area.

The commander allowed the operative, Mr Sesan Adebayo popularly known as Otapo, that was rumored to have been missing or killed during the operation to speak with newsmen.

Chief Adeleye, said the existing curfew on motorcycles okada riders in the state from six O’clock in the evening was still in force, noting that his men would start its enforcement on Monday, and that defaulting motorcyclists would be prosecuted for security breach.
