An Akure High Court has refused to grant bail application filed in favour of the founder, Sotitobire Praising Chapel Church Prophet, Alfa Babatunde.
However, the court had lifted the embargo placed on his bank accounts since the suit began.
The development followed an application filed by his lawyer, Olusola Oke.
Alfa Babatunde and six members of the church are standing trial over the disappearance of a year- old boy, Gold Kolawole in his church last year.
The trial judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, refused to grant his bail application and the six other defendants facing trial with him.
It would be recalled that the court had on June 24, 2020, received an application for bail and thereafter fixed July 30 for the ruling on the bail application.
The lawyer representing other defendants, Akinyemi Omoware, also moved similar application for the bail of the other church workers.
The prosecution counsel, led by Bola Ogundadegbe of the Ministry of Justice, however, opposed the applications before the court.
