Ogun state police command said it arrested one Prophet Ebenezer Ajigbotoluwa, founder and General Overseer of The Church of Lord, Olomore, Abeokuta for allegedly defiling, impregnating and procuring abortions for two under-age siblings (names withheld ).
Prophet Ajigbotoluwa, according to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, was arrested after the mother of the victims filed a report of the bizarre incident at Lafenwa Police station, Abeokuta.
The mother of the two teenage girls explained that she fell sick sometimes in 2018 and was taken to the church for spiritual healing. She stated further that the Pastor however allegedly exploited the advantage of her sickness and asked her entire family of six to move into the church premises to avoid being afflicted with the same sickness.
She spoke further that it was under this pretext that Prophet Ajigbotoluwa allegedly started having sex with her daughters of 16-year and 13-year of age, though, she was never aware.
The mother of the two girls alleged that the Prophet impregnated the two under age girls and went on to procure abortion for them in a private clinic.
Aside this, the prophet was accused of also defrauding the family of N2 million naira cash which he took for what he called spiritual cleansing.
Receiving this report, the DPO Lafenwa division CSP Muraina Ayilara led his men to the church but the place had been deserted.
The Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun was said to have directed that the suspect be hunted and brought to book and in compliance with the CP,s directive, the DPO and his men embarked on intelligence and technical based investigation, and their efforts paid off when the prophet was arrested on the 6th of August 2020 at about 5 am.
Prophet Ajigbotoluwa, according to the police, during interrogation was said to have confessed to the commission of most of the allegations leveled against him and that it was the reason why he ran away when he heard that police were looking for him.
Recovered from his home were assorted dangerous charms.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun has ordered the suspect to be transferred to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
He also warned those hiding under the umbrella of religion to perpetrate evil to desist from it or meet their Waterloo. Ajogun equally appealed to members of the public to beware of those wolves in sheep skin masquerading as men of God as they were out to milk them dry before destroying their lives.
