The Ondo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) led by the Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Olomiye has declared that health workers and the people of the state will greatly miss huge contributions of Dr Wahab Adegbenro to the sector.
Adegbenro, until his sudden demise last week, was the state Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the lnter-ministerial Committee Against COVID 19.
In a condolence message signed by the State Secretary of the Association, Comrade Tobe Odumosu, NANNM said Adegbenro’s fatherly roles in the sector would not be forgotten by all the stakeholders.
Odumosu opined that, “THE PAINFUL LOSS OF OUR COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH. We received with shock and deep pain the sudden death of Dr Wahab Adegbenro who until his demise was our Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the lnter-ministerial Committee Against COVID 19. This is no doubt a huge and painful loss for the whole health sector in Ondo state.
“Dr. Wahab Adegbenro was a kind man who served with diligence and fairness and his most deserving of all that is being done now to honour him. He was a fatherly figure to many and had such a large heart.
“We specially commiserate with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and National Association of Government General Medical md Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP) which were his primary professional constituency. Our sincere condolences to you at this difficult time.
“Our prayers are with his immediate family for whom his demise is undoubtedly most unsettling. It is a very dark and difficult period and we wish them the strength to cope with this loss.
“This unfortunate incident has cast a dark shadow over the state and thrown us into a deep state of mourning. Let us all take solace in the exemplary and impactful life he lived.”
The NANNM Secretary noted that, “on behalf of all Nurses and Midwives in Ondo state, NANNM ondo state council expresses again her heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family, the good people of Ilara-Mokin and Ondo state. Resting peace our dear Commissioner.”
