AIG men invade Akure community, arrest residents over protracted land dispute

The Police officers from zone 11 Headquarters, Oshogbo yesterday raided Agolisa Amudipe Community along old Aponmu road, Akure, over a protracted land dispute between Olisa Amudipe family, and Oluloye family who are of Lisa Isikan Chieftaincy family and arrested innocent people.

It was a great surprise that despite the fact that the land dispute has many litigations before the High Court of Akure to the Supreme Court level, and currently before the State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the Policemen acting on the order of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Bashir Makama invaded the community, arrested dozens of Amudipe residents and whisked some to Osogbo.

Information has it that, the AIG carried out the operation at the instance of one Chief Niyi Delly, popularly known as Obasunmisoye of Akure kingdom, who is a PDP chieftain and known land grabber.

As against COVID-19 precautionary measures, the Police officers interrogated those that were arrested, and detained five people at SIIB Akure and were later transfered to Anti Cultist section where the duo of Pastor Wale Amudipe and Mr Felix Oluyede were released around 6.45 pm Thursday.

They were, however, ordered to report to the AIG’s office in Osogbo this morning, while the remaining three people, in persons of Mr Semilore, Mr Bashiru and a labourer in the farm were handcuffed and taken to Oshogbo.

According to Chief Olu Adekunle Ajanaku, the Olu of Agolisa Amudipe community, who is presently on his way to Osogbo, the AIG ordered the sudden arrest of the his people with the excuse that the defendant claimed they (the community) harassed him, and that they illegally invade the land.

According to him, the Amudipe family is a descendants of Iralepo of Isikan land and Deji Odudun first, and by virtue of his birth, Amudipe was Olisa of Akure kingdom from 1905 to 1955.
