Family members of a Deputy Commissioner of Police, deployed to Edo State but resident in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Mr Adie Bissong who reportedly died of Covid19 have tested negative for the virus.
There have been apprehension that the senior police officer might have infected some close relations when he visited akure during the easter before his death.
In an interview by Radio Nigeria in Akure on Saturday, the commissioner for health in Ondo state, Dr Wahab Adegbenro explained that all members of the deceased family had been quarantined and tested negative for coronavirus in the first instance while the second round would be conducted in coming weeks.
Adegbenro said even though the late DCP Bissong died two weeks after he left akure, government was also tracing his secondary contacts especially friends and colleagues with whom he might have related before he left Akure for his station in eEdo state.
Also speaking on the two coronavirus patients in the state infectious disease hospital in Akure, Adegbenro hinted that they were in a stable condition.
Adegbenro expressed the hope that the second victim would be released soon having tested negative for the virus in the first round of medical procedure.
He appealed to residents to support the government in curbing the spread of the deadly disease by adhering strictly to laid down precautionary measures.
