Officials of the Government of Ondo state, religious and community leaders have distributed palliatives to the vulnerable individuals across communities in Ose Local Government of the state.
The state palliative which was earlier flagged off by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) contained various food items to cushion the effect of sit-at-home order of the state government.
The palliative committee in the local government was co-chaired by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Dotun Owanikin Esq. and the member representing Ose Local Government in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Sola Oluyede while the LG Caretaker Chairman, Dr Anthony Modupe, the LG CAN Chairman, Revd Fr. Victor Alubiagba, the LG Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibraheem Mohammed, Asiwaju Dele Olapeju, Prince Lanke Odogiyon and Chief Mrs Olufowose served as members.
Subcommittees that included religious and community leaders were also created in all the communities that made up the local government.
Speaking at the venues of collection, Barrister Dotun Owanikin applauded the subcommittee members for identifying the actual vulnerable individuals in their domains as the palliatives were not meant for political purpose but to ameliorate the plights of the downtrodden during this period.
He said the composition of the subcommittees was to carry stakeholders along in identifying the vulnerable groups and distribution of the palliatives.
He also used the avenue to enlighten the people on the pandemic and the need to adhere strictly to government and medical experts instructions.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke applauded the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for identifying with them at the period and equally prayed God to grant him success in his administration.
Some members of the subcommittees who also spoke expressed happiness over the gesture and requested for more assistance from the government as well as people of goodwill.
