Ondo Govt receives USA free medical service team

Ondo State government today received a medical missionary team from the United States of America, USA, who were in the state to render fee medical services to its citizens.

Speaking at a reception dinner organised to welcome the Sharing Hope Medical Mission at the government House Alagbaka, Akure, the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, described their volunteering gesture as an act worthy of emulation.

He charged individuals and corporate bodies to cultivate the habit of volunteerism in providing services to the society. He decried the non-challant attitude of Nigerians towards volunteering service and enjoined every individual to learn from the foreign missioners.

He affirmed that the free medical services would be an additional achievement on their Curriculum Vitae, and assured of the readiness of the state government to give SHARING HOPE Mission the needed support, and a conducive environment in order to encourage them.

Earlier, the wife of the governor, who champions the visit, had affirmed that the team was in the state to render free services without any  burden on the government as a way to help Akeredolu-led administration through her brother, a medical practitioner in the USA.

According to her, the team provided free medical services last year, including the donation of equipment, adding that the Mission took care of the transportation fare of their 15 delegates from the USA.

She noted that the medical team would be in the state for a period of one week, and would also extend the service to Imo State, afterwards.

The leader of the team, Dr. Emeka Anyanwu gave the details of the medical services to include, free eyes treatment and donation of medical equipment to state health facilities.

Dignitaries at the event included the state commissioner for justice, Mr. Kola Olawoye, his counterpart for women affairs, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi, representatives of the ministry of health, representative of the University of Medical Sciences, Special Adviser to the government on public utilities, Engr Tunji Ariyomo, among others.
