Ondo State Focal Person of the National Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government and Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Ondo State on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu has celebrated the new year with some less privileged people in Akure, the State capital on Wednesday.
Mrs Ademosu who said her decision to identify with some of the less privileged and the vulnerable in both Akure South and Akure North Local Government Areas of the State was born out of the fact that she felt they too are part of the society and that, considering the current economic realities in the society, they must be shown love and carried along.
Mrs Ademosu used the opportunity of the hangout to communicate the goodwill message of the Executive Governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to the people.
“I have the pleasure of the Governor to first congratulate all of us here today on making it through to this new year and also wishing all of us a prosperous new year”, she said.
She further advised the people to celebrate the new year within their means and avoid putting themselves into avoidable troubles in the name of new year celebration.
According to her, ” while it remains a good thing to celebrate God’s grace of sparing our lives to witness the new year, we should also learn to celebrate within our means to avoid undesirable consequences”.
Meanwhile, it is interesting to note that the Special Adviser to the Governor put smiles on the faces of most of the less privileged people who were in attendance by distributing both cash gifts and food items to them.
“This is our small gesture for you and I will like you to accept it with love with the hope that we shall continue do more if the chance avails us”, Mrs Ademosu stated.
Also in attendance at the event which took place at Elemo Palace, Akure are Senior Special Assistance to the Governor on National Social Investment Programme, Bar. Felix Alonge, Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Multilateral and Public Relations, Mrs Ojolo among other top government functionaries.
