Missing Child: PFN disowns Sotitobire, describes incidence as unfortunate

The Ondo State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has affirmed that the Founder of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Akure, Prophet Alfa Babatunde, is not one of its members.

Addressing journalists in Akure, the State Chairman of PFN, Bishop Kolawole Opayinka of the Glorious Tabernacle International Church said it was quite unfortunate that such an incident will be recorded in a church.

According to him, the government and the security agents must take proactive steps to investigate the matter and bring out the truth.

“Member churches under our umbrella are scandal free. It is very unfortunate that this is happening. I, for one condemn the act. Such acts should not be heard of in the church but I know that nemesis may be slow but it will catch up with the perpetrators of this evil act.

“Sotitobire is not a member of the PFN and his congregation is not listed under our umbrella”, he restated.
While sympathizing with the family of the missing child, Bishop Opayinka urged Pastors to beef up security in their churches in order to forestall reoccurrence.

Also speaking on the recent alleged arrest by the Department of Secret Service (DSS), the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph recounted the efforts of the Ondo State Police Command to unravel the case, saying the parties had earlier been invited just as investigations were ongoing.

Jospeh who said the command is contemplating arrest of the teachers for conspiracy and stealing of the child, also said the Police Command would continue with its investigation as it is independent of the DSS in unraveling the case.

“What people want to hear is positive result. I share the sentiment of the parents; maybe they were not satisfied with the way it was being handled but we are not going to rest on our oars.

“The most important thing is to get positive result”, he stressed.

It would be recalled that Eniola Kolawole, a one-year-old child was dropped at the creche section of the church by his mother during a service but went missing during that special service at the church headquarters located at the Oshinle Quarters of Akure.

Mrs Modupe Kolawole, the distraught mother of the missing child had accused Babatunde of being behind the sudden disappearance of her son.
