It is the day two of the 2019 BEMORE Empowered initiative Summer Bootcamp where over 200 girls are gathered to be equipped with life-changing skills at Public Service Training Institute, PSTI, Ilara-Mokin in Ifedore local government area of Ondo State for the period of two weeks.
The BEMORE girls who had earlier arrived the venue yesterday for registration, opened the Summer Bootcamp today with early morning exercise, including training in Taekwondo knockouts.
This would make the third edition of the BEMORE Empowered Summer Bootcamp for Girlsnaija, an initiative of the wife of Ondo state governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu less than three years of her husband-led administration.
Over 1,000 girls have been empowered so far with solar energy generation skill, ICT, and other life-changing skills through the initiative which has also been extended to other parts of the country, especially the Southwest states and Eastern part of Nigeria.
Today would feature an official opening ceremony of the programme, and Mrs. Akeredolu is expected to declare it opened by 11am.
Dignitaries already present include Sponsors of BEMORE girls from within and outside the state, Royal fathers, Local Government chairmen, government’s officials, while the Special Adviser to the President on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri is on her way to the venue.
Welcoming guests to the programme, the Commissioner for women affairs and social development, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi said less than three years that Mrs. Akeredolu started the BEMORE Girls Summer Bootcamp initiative in Ondo state, it has spread its tentacle across the globe.
She affirmed that by the end of the two weeks training, the girls would have been equipped with skills to change their environment.
