The wife of the Ondo state governor, Arabirin Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu has advised couples to prioritise communication in their homes to enhance peaceful home.
Mrs. Akeredolu who gave the advice in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state Nigeria at the wedding ceremony of an officer of the Department of State Security Service attached to her, described constant communication between husband and wife as key to a progressive home.
Admonishing the couple, Faith and Temitope, after coordinating the cutting of cake, Mrs. Akeredolu reminded them that marriage is not a bed of roses and should therefore learn to tolerate each other.
She enjoined them not to allow a third party to intervene in their affairs in periods of disagreement but rather settle it through communication.
“Like I tell every couple that communication is important in the sense that this journey is not a bed of roses, make sure you talk to each other, if you do so you will not have a third party coming in to settle your disagreement”, she said.
Mrs. Akeredolu however described wedding ceremony as a day that every parent looks forward to for their children, and therefore congratulated parents of the newly married çouple.
She described the bride, who is her aide, as a calm, hardworking lady who is dedicated to her duty, and urged the husband to appreciate her being a virtuous woman.
She also advised the bride to be submissive to her husband and be committed to the success of her marriage.
The wedding ceremony which coincided with the birthday of Mrs. Akeredolu, featured presentation of a surprise birthday cake by the couple, a gesture which she later appreciated.
