Fasoranti’s daughter death: Akure Forum vows to design safety measure against herdsmen if govt fails to act fast

Bothered by the murder of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political group, Afenifere, Pa. Reuben Fasoranti, the Akure Community Forum has called on the governments at all levels to arise to their responsibility of providing adequate security for citizens.

To this end, the community forum has vowed to discern a security measure to defend its people if prompt action is not taking by the government.

Addressing journalists at the Akure city hall yesterday through the former deputy governor of Ondo state, Mr. Omolade Oluwateru, the community frowns at the incessant attack on the people of Akure and environs by the suspected Fulani herdsmen, including the kidnap of one of the notable son of the soil, Chief Olu Falae, sometime last year.

According to the Forum, Akure people are hospitable,  cherish peace and tranquility but wouldn’t be allowed to be taken for granted by foreigners, hence, will not await further affront before they take necessary precautionary measure.

Condoling Pa. Reuben Fasoranti who happens to be one of the sons of the soil, over the death of his daughter, Akure Community Forum declared enough is enough of such attack against the people of the land.

They decried the unabated kidnapping experience on suburbs of the community, noting that the criminals have taken over the forests surrounding the capital city, and clamoured for community policing.

The Forum explained that the community decided to maintain peace during the kidnap of Falae, hoping that government will forestall the situation but was dissapointed to witness the most disheartening attack which led to the death of Fasoranti’s daughter.

They expressed their readiness to discourage the people of the land from consuming cow meat, saying that the security of the people is paramount and cannot be traded for cow.

They therefore called on governments and security agents to live up to expectations and be alive to their responsibilities as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution, in order to avert anarchy in the country.
