let’s say NO to FGM in our society, it causes more harm than good, the traditional belief that females whose genital organs are left uncut are promiscuous is unfounded as report has it that over 90% of sex workers in the country are victims of Female Genital Mutilation.
It’s high time we stop inflicting pain on our newborn female children in the name of protecting them from promiscuity.
A lot of complications accompany this act like infection, pain, and trauma etc. If parents teach their children morals and self-control right from tender age, immorality will be reduced. High urge for sexual activity has nothing to do with whether one is mutilated or not.
Since there’s no health benefits attached to this practice, why then should we continue to cause pain for our little ones? This practice is rampant in Africa countries due to traditional belief, but now that we are educated and UN/WHO are preaching against it day and night, our traditional birth attendants and religious leaders should key into this campaign and #endfgm#.
